Emily Smitt (1959, Amsterdam, the Netherlands, autodidact) worked for years as author, entrepreneur and sr project management in IT, where structure, meticulousness and analytical skills were her daily tools. Throughout her life there have always been moments of creative expression; driven by curiosity and the desire to create something with her hands; she draw paintings and made sculptures. Her work revolves around attention, the process, and the silent experience of creating. She calls herself a student—but her attitude, dedication, and results already speak a visual language all their own.
